Why should I use Calorie Trak?
Getting Informed on Food:
Calorie Trak is a great tool for getting educated about how many calories and nutrients are in different foods and how much you need to eat to lose weight. You will be amazed how many calories are in some of your favorite foods.
With Calorie Trak's large food database it is easy to find out which foods fill you more per given calories and are more effective in your dieting strategy.
Counting Calories:
A lot of people go on diets of one sort or another, but are not successful at losing weight or keeping the weight off. One of the main reasons for this is that a lot of diets focus on the type of food consumed but sidestep total calorie consumption.
On one hand one may follow a certain diet regimen, eating certain foods, but if at the end of the day the total calories of those consumed foods is not sufficiently bellow your metabolic rate, the person will not be successful at losing the amount of weight they wanted to.
One may on the other hand follow a given diet regimen, where the amount of consumed calories is very low, but may go too far in calorie restriction where one then gets too hungry or gets too many food cravings, which then results in not following the diet plan.
For these reasons it is an advantage to use Calorie Trak. By using Calorie Trak you will be assured the amount of calories you consume is low enough for you to lose the amount of weight you want to, and you will also know that you are not restricting your calories too much.
It is generally agreed that if you want to be successful at losing weight, and just as importantly, be successful at keeping it off, one should lose weight slowly.
When trying to lose weight slowly, the necessary calorie reduction is not great. Without using some method to keep track of food intake it is easy to misjudge the amount of calories consumed.
Use of Calorie Trak will enable you to lower your calorie intake just enough for long term success.
How does it work?
Calorie Trak keeps track of your daily food intake and body weight , Calorie Trak then calculates your metabolic rate and determines daily calorie intake budget, based on your desired weight goal.
Calorie Trak is also useful for managing your nutrient intake levels, with graphs and tables available for food intake history as well as for Calorie Trak food lists.
Typical Usage of Calorie Trak:
- Start as a new user by filling out the New User Personal Profile.
- Set your goal weight (to loose, maintain or gain), and set your target date.
- Record your weight at least once a week. Every day or every second day is preferable.
- Record your intake of food in the Diary Food Log. As with weight entry it is preferable to make entries every day or every second day. For accuracy of calculations it is also best to log all food eaten for a given day or make no entries at all.
Use
Calorie Trak's Target Calories recommendation to plan your daily food consumption to meet the calorie budget.
Do I need to record what I eat every day?
No,
Calorie Trak does not require food entry every day. As a general rule it is better to record all the food eaten in a given day, or record none.
Calorie Trak will not work accurately if for example you enter only half the food eaten in a day on a frequent basis. On balance you should not skip too many days entering food as the program calculations again will not accurately reflect your progress.
Do I need to record my weight every day?
No, one entry every day is ideally best, but Calorie Trak will work without weight being entered every day. It should be noted that the more days you skip, the less potentialy representative Calorie Trak's data will be of your dieting progress. At the very minimum it is recommended that weight is recorded at least once a week.
Does Calorie Trak use take up a lot of time?
Not at all. Daily weight and food entry does not take much time. You can speed things up by entering foods that you consume on a regular basis into the Favorite Foods list. Another way to enter foods faster is to use the Recipe Entry function to save a food that is made up of different ingredients or foods. That way you don't have to enter individual ingredients or foods every time.
What is the best way to use Calorie Trak?
Weight Entry:
For ongoing use of Calorie Trak and accurate calculations it is recommended to record your weight daily, and use a scale which measures in 0.2 lbs or 0.1 kg increments or better. For accurate weight representation it is also better to weigh yourself at approximately the same time each day, with approximately the same amount of clothing.
Food Entry:
As a general rule it is better to record all the food eaten in a given day, or record none. The programs calculations will be less accurate if for example you enter only half the food eaten in a day on a frequent basis. On balance it is best not skip too many days entering food as again the program calculations will be less accurate in reflecting your progress.
Exercise Entry:
Usage of Calorie Trak does not require for you to enter Exercise, as your initial Activity Level setting and ongoing daily calculations of metabolic rate will account for a persons average daily activity and exercise. For activity or exercise that does is outside of the regular activity routine, a person can use the Diary Exercise log.
